Goldstone Beads![]() Goldstone beads are made of glass impregnated with copper flecks. The same method of including copper flecks in the composition of glass is used to make blue goldstone, green goldstone, and purple goldstone. Sandstone is another name for blue goldstone. It originated in Italy and is still made there by members of the monastic community that invented it. However, the majority of the world supply is now made in China. The name "goldstone" is sometimes inappropriately applied to aventurine, sunstone, or other minerals. Used in jewelry making, goldstone beads provide a wonderful sparkle in bright light, which makes them an exceptionally good choice for daytime wear. Their low cost and wide choice of shapes makes them an appealing item to include in your jewelry supplies. Brown goldstone is the most common color available. Since it is glass, goldstone beads are available in many fancy shapes and sizes. In jewelry making, brown goldstone makes an exceptionally nice partner to citrine, aragonite, red aventurine, moonstone, and picture jasper. Of course, gold or gold color jewelry findings are called for by the warm tone of brown goldstone. common treatments: none special care: avoid impact and abrasion |
